High Schools

In today’s high schools, students with intellectual disabilities often share the same hallways as all the other students in the school; however, they are left out of social activities.  By establishing a Best Buddies Indiana Chapter at public and private high schools, we are crossing the invisible lines that too often separate those with disabilities from those without, by establishing one-to-one friendships.  The simple act of having lunch together, chatting in the hallways, or going to a school athletic event makes a world of difference to our participants. One-to-one friendships are the secret to success.

Best Buddies has chapters in 49 high schools in Indiana alone. Each chapter is a registered student organization within their school and is led by a chapter president. The Chapter President is a student that is matched in a friendship and is willing to organize, lead and maintain a chartered chapter of Best Buddies for the duration of one academic year.

For more information or if you are interested in starting a Best Buddies Indiana chapter at your high school, contact
Natalie Seibert, Program Supervisor at (317) 920-8623.
